We Lost A Real One

Family, friends, celebrities, and fans of rapper Nipsey Hussle came together to mourn the loss of the slain, and murdered rapper on Thursday. The memorial of Nipsey Hussle was held at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Nipsey , who’s birth name was Ermias Asghedom , was a father of two. His eldest daughter age 7 from a previous relationship and his youngest son age 2 who he’d currently fathered with his girlfriend, Lauren London who spoke an emotional, heart-felt speech on the loss of her boyfriend. Oprah Honors Maya Angelou On Her 91st Birthday

Oprah Winfrey has honored her closest friend, Maya Angelou, with a poetic tribute. According to The Huffington Post, this poem, written by Henry Scot Holland, is what Winfrey describes as the “unbroken continuity” of her friendship with the prolific writer and civil rights activist, who died in 2014 at age 86. Maya Angelou would have been 91 April 4th.

2019 DVF Awards Honored Some Tremendous People!

Diane von Furstenberg hosted the 10th Annual DVF Awards , where she honored five women who has made exceptional changes across the world. Amongst those Five women were, Anita Hill who was awarded with the honored with Lifetime Leadership Award, and Katy Perry, who received the Inspiration Award.  According to Hapar Bazaar, Anita Hill delivered a powerful speech and call to action , here’s what she had to say;

"I know that most of you first came to know me in 1991. No one would have predicted 28 years ago that I would still be here. The due process is designed to make women like myself disappear,” Hill said. "I believe that advocating for equality is a noble endeavor and I also believe that, unfortunately today, the high price of demand for equality all too often falls on the most vulnerable."

Hill ended her speech with this powerful call-to-action

“When the government fails, I want you to commit to standing with the women who need to be heard, deserve to be heard and have the right to be heard,”  she said
