How to Deal With Adult Acne

Let’s face it, we all get a pimple here and there. Some of us still get them frequently (AKA ME!). It is the most annoying thing ever in my opinion. I feel like a teenage girl all over again. But when you are a working girl, stress along with hormones can cause acne. If you are any birth control like the pill, that messes with your hormones and can cause a ton of problems. It even sometimes happens when you are eating one too many sweets. Like I said, I have been there. However, nothing compares to having healthy skin. There are so many different ways to treat and prevent chronic breakouts.

Here is how:

Watch What You Are Eating

Yes ladies, this one is pretty much the simplest one. How many times have you gotten a super sugary milky drink at Starbucks this week? How many bowls of pasta, rice, and other starchy foods? Yes, that has a major effect. These types of foods have oil-inducing compounds that will cause acne if you eat too much of it. Making sure we are not overloading our bodies on these types of food will definitely make a difference.

Stop Touching Your Face

How many times do you touch your face per day. Think about it! You rub your eyes, you may scratch or rub your nose. There are so many factors involved. Your hands get crazy dirty throughout the day. You touch your keyboard, your steering wheels, hand railings, and so much more. These are filled with all types of germs. Most times you are not even thinking about. Be mindful of that and make sure you are keeping your hands and your items clean. (No popping either, that just makes it worse!)

Relax, Chill, and Repeat

I am one of those girls who have massive breakouts if I feel very stressed. Stress is not directly linked to acne however, it is a trigger for our adrenal glands which does cause excess oiliness. Most of the time, you just need a good skincare routine and self-care day to get that under control. Try a salicylic acid based mask or great acne preventing exfoliator and your skin will begin making changes instantly.

Visit an Aesthetician

Sometimes taking the time out to visit your local spa can do the trick. Facials are a great way to professionally treat your skin when you are having breakouts. They are trained in skincare and can provide you with facials, massages (for those with body acne), and so much more. Most of the time, they are up to date on the best products to use for your breakouts as well.
